If not, use a small good quality new real vise grip pliers set real tight at the right grip angle for the teeth direction and see if you can break it free.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2001 C4, 155K miles, no CEL this one also has crack in coil and missing plastic around bolt I heard if your replacing the muffler, it's a good time to replace coils & plugs but ALL Ignition Coil Bolts completely rounded. When I insert 5mm there is literally no resistance. One attempt with vice failed. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

POST 2Original post

Quotes source post: 20255941

Well, with those cracks in the coils, that does have to be changed out. I'd spray liberally with wd40, then try and fully hammer/drive in a 1/4" drive 5.5 allen (or maybe even a torx/star drive) in 5.5mm(or sae?) Whatever fits real tight and has to be driven in hard, and see if that will do it. If not, use a small good quality new real vise grip pliers set real tight at the right grip angle for the teeth direction and see if you can break it free. Last resort would be heat. Then drill if everything else fails.

POST 3Original post

Mine were exactly the same, I used a small pair of vice grips to get them out. Really only possible with the muffler removed.
