I just acquired a 99 996 c2 (stock suspension). The previous owner put on some aftermarket wheels I really don't care for. Unfortunately I also can't stand any of the period correct wheels either. The best looking Porsche wheels I've found are the 997 Carrera Sport wheels -

.
Will these fit my narrow body 996? With spacers, or rolled fenders maybe? I asked my local Porsche specialist shop but they had no idea. I plugged in the numbers on various wheels fit calculators, but I don't understand how to interpret the result.
I understand 19's may/will decrease my ride quality. For reference, I'm riding on the 2006 date code Michelin p4s' the car came with and the ride is fine (needing to replace them is prompting the wheel search). So I imagine fresh tires on 19's can't possibly be any worse.
Appreciate any guidance as a brand new owner!
Those Carrera Sport wheels are pretty. I nearly bought a 997 with those optioned before I bought my 996.
Yes I would expect 19s will compromise your ride, can't see the geometry being friendly to a wheel of that diameter (I could be wrong). Aging factory original struts on oversized incorrect wheels does not sound like a good time.
Just an aside, but I think 19s on a 996 usually look really odd, pre-facelift cars in particular, as the body design is very restrained and svelte.
If you really don't like any of the correct wheels for the early cars (look at them all if you haven't, there's quite a range), another option would be
Axis wheels
. Popular choice around here and they're nice looking.
Congrats on your purchase. Post a picture on what wheels you have currently.
Best advice I can give you is take your time to figure out what you want and what actually works with the 996 from a handling standpoint. Plenty of good threads in the topic. Below is a link to one.
