Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

For 2003 and up cars without PSM, you will need to search for a repair harness for a 2002 model in order to get the correct harness.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Both my left and right rear abs connectors have crumbled apart. The repair harness I ordered has two male connectors so obviously won't work with the original style abs sensor but will with the bottom style of sensor. Both part# come up for a 2002 996. my question is can I substitute 996.606.406.00(bottom pic) and keep the harness I ordered for 996.606.407..0299(top pic)

POST 2Original post

If your car does not have PSM the top pic is the correct sensor. Here is someone who used psm sensors on a non psm car and got errors. https://986forum.com/forums/666145-post1.html

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, for clearing that up for me.

POST 4Original post

What year is your car? For 2003 and up cars without PSM, you will need to search for a repair harness for a 2002 model in order to get the correct harness. I found this out the hard way.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mines an 02 I found out out the hard way that 23 year old plastic bits crumble, I'm sure I'll be ordering the fronts before long.. Fighting the moral dilemma to do a solder repair instead of an rear interior out and learning the dark arts of unpinning a connector..
