Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I have a 2004 C2 which has some small paint chips on offside door. I suspect these are from careless drivers opening their doors in a car park. The marks are very small but annoying as paintwork is in excellent condition otherwise. Any advice on best approach besides a respray! Thanks.

POST 2Original post

My advice is to take it to a paint professional and ask what it would cost to just touch up the areas. If there is one thing that I have never been able to do right is touch up paint and not have it look terrible. Must be one skill set I don't have. Paint is more of an art than anything else.

POST 3Original post

Leave it and enjoy driving. As soon as you fix the paint someone will do it again...

POST 4Original post

Check out Larry’s video instructions at AmmoNYC. That man does a great job explaining how to fix any type of paint blemish. But be warned: After watching him work, you may feel like you don’t do enough for your Porsche.

POST 5Original post

Agreed, AmmoNYC is addictive to watch and implement. For internet kits, Dr. Colorchip works wonderfully if you meticulously follow the instructions.

POST 6Original post

Depending on your wheels/suspension etc, my car has given itself stone chip patina on the sides... I've got 5 spoke 18" standard wheels and genuine 5mm spacers. I stop looking for chips now because they are a way of life with the 911...

POST 7Original post

Dr. ColorChip! Amazing what I was able to do on my car with it! Watch the videos on youtube about it first.

POST 8Original post

My car is at Porsche dealer getting paint chips corrected. I had purchased a kit of Dr. Color Chip in Orient Red Metallic, but then decided not to do it myself. The dealer disassembles all the parts near any areas with chips, to blend the clear coat and not get near rubber seals. It is near completion, I get photo updates nearly every day. I have seen some good jobs and bad jobs of repairing chips, either spend the money to have it done perfect, or don't do it. Just my $.02
