Leading evidence: 'Use those interrior panel push tabs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use those interrior panel push tabs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

HI I am trying to put the rear belts back in (02 coupe) and can seem to figure out how they are mounted behind the c pillar trim. Are they mounted to a bracket?
Thanks.
There is a bracket that they sit in, see this diagram:
The base/retractor sits and bolts into a bracket that is then bolted down onto the body with three bolts (the bracket cannot be seen in the diagram above)

As I remember it:
The bottom of the seatbelt is bolted to the outboard side by the seat base.
The seat belt guide is bolted to the c pillar.
The retracting mechanism is attached to a removable bracket that is bolted to the chassis. The retracting mechanism fits in a slot and tab arrangement, and is also bolted to the bracket.
Never mind I figured it out, the picture was deceiving and the bracket actually sits back closer to the rear glass where I noticed the three studs on the chassis.
Thanks guys.
Hey Nick. Yeah please take pics. May be helpful. After you remove the belts, what are your plans for them? Could I purchase the mounting bolts off you?
If not, any one else have a set of hardware lying around or know the specs on the bolts? I've tried a few different from the hardware store and none seem to fit.
I'm going to keep them so I can reinstall if/when I sell the car. As said above you can buy the bolts at the dealer, Pelican, Suncoast, or any Porsche supplier.
Yes, it is expensive
These are specialty bolts
Anything you buy at a car dealer is going to cost a lot
Porsche parts are generally on the high end price wise
I believe that is a retail price, you can probably get it for less
Try Rennpart, they've treated me well in the past
There are other dealers (Suncoast) that also sell at a discount (<--- Sunset Porsche, sorry, thanks for the correction jcc0016)
You might get lucky at a pick a part yard, someone parting their car, or by calling a wrecking yard, there are lots of them
Pics as promised...
Remove side panel. Remove driver's seatbelt "rose" first and the screw behind it (this is the only screw). Everything else is held in with pop-clips and comes out by pulling from the top of the panel first. The bottom carpet near the floor has two tabs that insert downwards....so pop the top out first then lift the panel up and out. You DO NOT need to remove the speaker, as it turns out. Just unplug it after you get the panel away.
Close up of screw:
Bolt for the reel is accessible just push some of the foam out of the way (the scratched up metal thing on the left is a putty knife I used to hold the foam out of the way to snap a picture):
A 17mm socket will fit by pushing some of the foam out of the way.
Reel removed:
Now pop the seatbelt "rose" trim out and then pop C-pillar trim out a little (no need to remove it) and remove the 17mm bolt for the guide:
Reassembly is reverse of removal....getting the front seat belt "rose"trim back in was the biggest challenge (I just cut the tab off the bottom of it, the lower tab does not retain it at all). Finished:
I did weigh everything...rear seatbelts, hardware, rear seats (not including the subwoofer) and this removes 26 lbs from the car. Now if I could only remove 26 lbs from the driver (me!) I'd been even better off!!
I actually find that with the seats removed you loose storage space because the rear sections fold down creating more space. Might have to out them back in!
Take out all of that dense sound deadening and save another 20 pounds (guesstimate). It is surprisingly heavy.
Also, if you’re going to remove the belts, and you are trimming excess weight, the steel brackets they mount to are bolted in, and could be removed to save some more.
