Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I cleaned the grounding strap, it's a fresh battery, and with the car gutted, I can reach and close the clutch kill switch by hand.

I am selling the car as a project, but I imagine running makes it more desirable than "ran when parked." So any help would be appreciated.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
First time posting, and I apologize. I do lurk here quite a bit.
A bit of background. This 99 was my DD for a few years. I was doing track days and some instruction. I was seeing 140+ a great deal and I decided I needed to be safer. I was also making a good bit more money and wanted to turn the car into a proper track car. So I had a cage put in and the interior gutted. The car did run and drive, but the project stalled. The car has sat for a while but did "run when parked."
Poking around here, I tried all the tips I saw. I cleaned the grounding strap, it's a fresh battery, and with the car gutted, I can reach and close the clutch kill switch by hand. Nothing. The dash lights up, everything works, but I can't get the starter to engage. I had pulled the dash and everything out (which I have done a dozen times prior). But as I mentioned, this project stalled. I am certain that I have missed a wire hookup (the grounds are all in place).
So I am suspicious one of these two might be the culprit, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where they go.

I did also read that the ignition switches fail on these, and the car is 140mile plus car, so that can be the culprit. With the dash pulled, I imagine "hotwiring" is an option, but I worry about blowing some expensive electronic piece by doing that. So if you guys know how to do that, cool. But I recall a locked thread that the admin said: "this is getting into how to steal a 996 thread."

I recognize this isn't conclusive proof I am not stealing some poor sap's car, other than to say, I am not stealing anyone's car. But if the admins need further proof, I am happy to comply.
Thanks for your time.
