Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I notice when the car gets cold, I hear a metal on metal sound that pulses about twice a second when turning the steering wheel, it gets louder the more the wheel is turned. Only happens when cold outside (say, < 40F), goes away after it warms up. It seems to be coming from front passenger side. Any ideas on what to look for? The power steering fluid level is good. Thanks

I hear that it is recommended to completely change the power steer fluid every 50000 miles. You might want to do that before anything else. Then check for leakage either end of the rack and pinion.

I'm right at 50k miles, I'm sure this couldn't hurt. I'll start there. Thanks!
