Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My tires that I ordered on Saturday arrived at the local Discount Tire store yesterday and were installed today.
Leading evidence: 'Install today' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'front' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install today' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If it was the front, it would be more unknown since the wheel needs turning clearance.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

....these wheels. Quick question- well I was about to purchase a set of Michelin Pilot Sport all seasons from Discount Tire, willing to drop down to 265/35 on the 18" rears. (A/S 3+ doesn't come in 285/30) Turns out the 265/35 tires spec up to an 10.5" wheel width, and I believe the width on my wheel roughs out to 11" measurement? Can you confirm? If so, he said it would be too wide and the tires might not seal properly. I know there are a few of you who had responded in other threads saying they had the new MPS A/S3, although the wheel width wasn't addressed.
Alternatively I do see that the 275/35's spec out to 11" wheels with a nominal diameter increase to 25.6". Could I use those instead? (the 265/35s were 25.3" and the 285/30s are about 24.8")
What wheels are those? I have the 18" factory wheels on my 996.1 with AS3+. The tires sides stick out quite a bit, indicating to me that there's still plenty left to go wide. I have the stocks sizes (265 in the rear) and have more traction than I need (it's really difficult to get the rear end to come out).
I guess those are the turbo twist wheels? Difference between the 996.1 and 996.2 models is that the former spec 265/35 18 on the rear, and the latter (my car) spec 285/30 18 on the rear. So I assume your factory wheels are probably under 11" on the rear and are good with 265/35. I went ahead and ordered the 275/35's. I see no reason why the back can't handle an extra 0.5" diameter. If it was the front, it would be more unknown since the wheel needs turning clearance.
Happiness is the smell of new tires.....and an extra $200 cash back in your pocket! My tires that I ordered on Saturday arrived at the local Discount Tire store yesterday and were installed today. No problems with the install (except for the car not starting after arrival, old battery has been acting up). I had called Michelin last week to open a warranty claim, and Matt was very responsive- called Michelin and they signed off and left the ball in his court. To review, my old tires were Pilot Sport A/S purchased in Nov 2012 and had about 21,000 miles on them. tread wear was great (< 50%) but cracking and tread separation was occurring, esp on right rear (steel cord was evident). Boy did he take care of me- gave me almost 50% towards the new tires! My original online order was $858 out the door- instead I paid only $620 and that
included
3yr replacement certificates, not on the original order. Additionally, he said he would attempt to make sure I get the Memorial Day $100 gift card + $60 rebate for billing Discount Tire CC. I won't hold my breath on those, but at least I can buy that fancy battery I need!
That's awesome that they gave you a credit. Sounds like a warranty issue you had.
I think you'll be happy with the AS3+
I didn't realize the 996.2 also had wider wheels in the rear. I wonder why that is.
