Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Incidentally this is the gear oil I used, my old oil was dirty so I figured good clean lower priced oil for now and I can flush it out later for something else if I need to.

Oh well, it certainly can't hurt anything, and now I know it's done - I may never have to do it again...I used Lubri-Moly 75-90

Nice list of PM items.....But yes, replace your motor mounts.....
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had a couple of other threads on the forum regarding my new to me 996 with 102k on the clock.
I bought it and drove it 6 miles home 20th May and immediately started working on it.
I completed:
LN dual row ceramic IMS bearing
new AOS
new clutch kit
new rear main seal
new water pump
LN low temp thermostat
gearbox oil change
new oil
new serpentine belt
fresh coolant
new rear brake pads
partial brake/clutch fluid flush
It took me around 67 hours to complete in total, 12 days as I work full time too.
Very tiring but happy now, so far I've done a few test drives around 30 miles.
My IMS was dual row and in perfect shape, no grease left but had engine oil inside, very little oil inside my IMS itself. The IMS flange was leaking oil but my RMS was like new
Attached is a video of my start up
Thanks to everyone on the forum for the help!

Incidentally this is the gear oil I used, my old oil was dirty so I figured good clean lower priced oil for now and I can flush it out later for something else if I need to. Has anyone else tried this in their 996 transmission? it seems to shift good, slightly stiff when cold but warmed up works good.
I just did my tranny oil too, as I've got the engine and tranny out of the car. I was bracing for the worst, but was pleasantly surprised when out came fairly golden/brown transparent fluid with practically no foul smell at all. Oh well, it certainly can't hurt anything, and now I know it's done - I may never have to do it again...I used Lubri-Moly 75-90
Ohh...that brings back memories of our (now deceased by a critter in the middle of the driveway at 2 in the morning) Siamese. 17 yr old named "Frank the Cat". Frank would leave his signature anywhere...and I mean anywhere. He was a *****! God rest his soul.
Yeah mine was certainly used so needed changing.
The liqui-moly is good? shift ok when cold? I don't want to spend $$$ for the porsche stuff when the car is used for light drives, no tracking etc.
