We just replaced the cats with expensive Fabspeed units and I really don't want to foul those out.

I’ve used Black Canyon before for an alignment on the 996 and had good results.

No experience, just look like a well run operation from their socials so take it FWIW.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey friends, I have a 986.2 in need of significant engine diagnostics and I haven't had much luck with the shops that like to sponsor our local PCA. My wife's Boxster is consuming a bunch of oil, nearly a quart a week. It's also leaving little dribbles that suggest RMS failure but there must be blow-by for the vehicle to use that much oil. We just replaced the cats with expensive Fabspeed units and I really don't want to foul those out. The car has 122k miles but is in generally great shape. We expect to keep it indefinitely. Anyone on the list have a good engine repair shop in the Denver area with expertise in flat sixes?

POST 2Original post

All I can tell you is ... stop driving it. It is either last phase of borescoring or IMS implosion.

POST 3Original post

Chris Cervelli runs CTS somewhere in CO. He has participated in a number of threads and knows and races the M96. He may be a resource. I don't have his contact info but he is on RL.

POST 4Original post

Cervelli Technical Service in Golden (as GC suggests) would be a good place to start asking questions.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for these. I’ve used Black Canyon before for an alignment on the 996 and had good results. I’ll check out CTS for this first since they have M96 specific experience and are a fair bit closer.
