Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In the video, I cleaned the whole area up, and where my camera is pointing is the affected area (I think) there's so many cables and tubes the oil could run anywhere..

It only leaks when the engine has been running for a while and is hot, leaving a small spot for the next day.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys! New here and a big 996 lover. Hope i'm posting in the right section Ive been scratching my head this past week as I've noticed a somewhat alarming oil leak near the rear left wheel (looking from behind). It only leaks when the engine has been running for a while and is hot, leaving a small spot for the next day. The engine runs great and has around 10,700 km on the clock. It does leave a little white cloud on startup. It has an M96.05 engine with the Tip. Would love to get some ideas before I have to tear out the engine . My only uneducated guess, after reading some posts here, is that it could be the AOS / RMS? In the video, I cleaned the whole area up, and where my camera is pointing is the affected area (I think) there's so many cables and tubes the oil could run anywhere.. Thanks for reading and taking a look.

POST 2Original post

Probably AOS, the housing and/or the bellows underneath. Very common.

Thanks for the tip Joe! You might be right. Got some pointers on that or /a and the c am end seal plugs. Will try to investigate this weekend.

POST 4Original post

If it is AOS, I highly recommend searching the forum for UAOS. Porschetech3/Skip's creation makes future AOS failures pretty much a non-issue. -Tom

Thanks Tom. I started reading up on this and if its the AOS causing the crime scene, this seems to be a future proof solution.
