Since you worked for Ford, do you know if their part number suffix change also reflects a possible change in vendor?

But yes, same thing , only difference is that FoMoCo used Letters as the suffix...So if a part # ending with an "A" was superseded by a "B" , it could mean an updated part, or just a Vendor Change, or even a color change ...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Who is the OEM for Porsche Wheel Bearings? About to replace the wheel bearings in my 4S and wanted to check the price of Porsche vs. aftermarket bearings. Also, is their a list of OEMs that made the original Porsche 996 parts?

POST 2Original post

Probably SKF or ***. Both now mostly make the parts in Asia. I hope they do a good job with QC. The last *** bearings I got were made in Vietnam. They seem fine; have been in the front of my Cayenne for 20k.

POST 3Original post

I went through pelican when I replaced mine. Their listing shows whether it's OEM or not. Really not a tough job. I didn't hear the carrier, just froze the bearings and pressed then in with my 12 ton press. Make sure you buy new axle nuts.

POST 5Original post

Everyone i have pulled from a wheel carrier has been a *** so i would bet they r oem.

POST 6Original post

*** was the original OEM but if there is a part # revision there could be a Vendor Change ... Part # revisions ( ie. from a 00 suffix to a 01 suffix) can mean the part was improved/updated or it could mean just a Vendor Change ...

POST 7Original post

Since you worked for Ford, do you know if their part number suffix change also reflects a possible change in vendor?

Wow !! <<< Digging way back in the memory bank here ....I worked for FoMoCo for 2 decades ( from 1974 to 1994 ) ,...that was 3 decades ago.....lol... But yes, same thing , only difference is that FoMoCo used Letters as the suffix...So if a part # ending with an "A" was superseded by a "B" , it could mean an updated part, or just a Vendor Change, or even a color change ...
