Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Ill take your advice soon as I get a couple more items checked off, like repairing the AC flapper!
Leading evidence: 'Check off, like' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fans are working as they should' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

When I acquired my 996 and looked in there, both sides were filled with chunks of asphalt.

(Optional) I use a condenser/evaporator coil cleaner on the radiators (non acidic non caustic).

Also worth checking your fans are working as they should and that a resistor doesn't need changing.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

New car for me. I found the radiators through the intake ducts, they were full of oak leaves and rash. I pulled all I could reach out then vacuumed out as much as I could reach. Most of it is gone but I'm wondering what is behind the radiators? Is it clear behind them?
Next washing I will try to remember to spray some good degreaser in them then rinse with good water pressure.
The air conditioning condenser is in front of the radiator. A thorough cleaning involves removing the bumper so you can move the condensor aside to clean the radiator.
Its well worth taking the bumper off, if you haven't done it before its a good learning opportunity too
Once in there you can pull the ducts off and really clean it all out properly!
Often the condensers have heaps of bent fins because people hit them with the vacuum! So despite being a very laborious task its worth straightening with a fine plastic screwdriver or similar.
Also worth checking your fans are working as they should and that a resistor doesn't need changing.
Wow, if that much debris can be vacuumed out, then I think theres a lot more stuck between the condenser and radiator. I agree with everybody: remove the bumper!
Thanks for your input. Most of what you see there was pulled out by my hand, yes my hands was scruffed up pretty well. I would not use a high pressure water, I clean my tractor radiator with just a water hose & nozzle.
the very bottom of the radiators still has fine residue.

If you got that much stuff out by just doing what you did and not removing the front fascia, I can only imagine what you have between the AC condenser & radiator. Highly recommend removing the front and getting behind the condenser. It's not hard to do....YouTube is your friend here.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Seen radiators almost plugged/coated 100% with fine debris that got thru the ac condenser. Doesn't have to be 100% plugged to hinder cooling system performance. Doesn't take much to deteriorate BTU removal.
This job should be done on a regular basis.
(Optional) I use a condenser/evaporator coil cleaner on the radiators (non acidic non caustic). It removes all insulating dirt film & debris from radiator to shine up/clean radiator fins for the best heat transfer...
This job isn't hard or out of the DIY realm. It is inexpensive at 0.00$. And it could increase your btu removal capacity greatly keeping m96 damaging heat at bay...
Hey, maybe the rads are free and clear spotless, maybe not. It takes under an hour to remove the bumper and ducts & a/c condensers to the side. Then you'll know. If you're mechanically inclined and know the 996, maybe 20 minutes.
Worth the time for sure...
jmho
I installed the Zunsport.com covers in black. They look great. Had them for three years now. Have not noticed any change in operating temp.
When I acquired my 996 and looked in there, both sides were filled with chunks of asphalt. There was no way they flew in there.
mesh grilles are often a little contentious!
Depends where you live and how much road debris you drive through, leafy towns can be a nightmare!
I've thought about it, but prefer the open look. Just means i have to be vigilant and clean out occasionally.
I also would recommend removing the bumper and thoroughly cleaning between the radiator and AC condenser. I did install the mesh covers and they work great. I check periodically and nothing has gotten past them.
Removing the bumper isnt difficult.
There are tons of tutorials on YouTube that show every step in detail.
This is what I found with almost no visible debris before removing the bumper.
Question: Did any of the contributors to this thread see a rise in coolant temp that led to the radiators' cleanup, was it something else, or just general PM? /X3
