The 1/4 turn ""Bayonet" style attachment points are poorly designed and were replaced in 2004 with a screw-type design, which you'll need to purchase (about $1000) and install to really get it to stop clunking.

Suggestion
I have 2 cabriolets in the family and after adjusting the top to the vehicle, the cars have become quiet with hard top use.

Suggestion
The fact that you can run your fingers that far between the top and car, it needs to be adjusted.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just got my hard top delivered today. I bought it with the car, and it was part of the original build order for this car. It just just took the seller awhile to get it to me after originally forgetting to ship it with the hard top on. I installed it, but I'm not sure it is fully seated. I turned the rear bolts until they clicked and would not turn further. Can't lift it off, so it seems bolted properly, but when I took a short drive, it sounded over bumps like it was clanking/banging a bit, as if it wasn't fully secured down. Here are some pics. The top did not come with the plastic covers for the rear or front latches. Does this look right?
The bolts on the back have markings for fully locked and unlocked position. Are the dots completely lined up? Will have to look through the back window to get a good view at them.
I havent noticed any excess noise over bumps when I had mine on.
As far as the covers go, Id just live without them. They are ridiculously expensive now days. Serve no functional purpose.
I have adjusted mine multiple time and yours looks fine to me. Honestly the hardtop just sucks - it looks bad and has many, many sources of rattles and clunks (here are entire TSBs about this). The 1/4 turn ""Bayonet" style attachment points are poorly designed and were replaced in 2004 with a screw-type design, which you'll need to purchase (about $1000) and install to really get it to stop clunking.
Frankly I don't even bother with mine anymore, it's not remotely worth the relatively small decrease in noise vs just rolling with the soft top.
I had a bit of trouble when I first used my hardtop. I didn't seat it right. It was solidly on there, but not correctly. Took it on and off a few times and finally got the hang of it. Now my wife and I put it on and off with ease. Just make sure to seat the front header first, then drop the rear into the bolt holes (making sure the bolts are in the unlock position first). Then lock the bolts and you should be good to go. I don't get any squeaks or rattles when my hardtop is on. Very quiet ride.
The fact that you can run your fingers that far between the top and car, it needs to be adjusted. Porsche has a specs. for it and the tolerance put 10 mm right in the middle of the specs. I have 2 cabriolets in the family and after adjusting the top to the vehicle, the cars have become quiet with hard top use. the bayonets are adjustable to bring it within specs.
