Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My check engine light came on today. I pulled into a parking lot, Ubered home. Grabbed my code checker. It shows ECU17, P1691, for fuel injection pump controller calibration error. It wasnt running rough or making any weird sounds. Just the light came on and it never comes on, so I was concerned. Is this something I can drive to take it to the shop or do I need to tow it? Have you dealt with this before? Please help me understand what Im dealing with. Thanks so much!

POST 2Original post

A p1691 code is a communication issue between the dme (engine compiter) and the dash cluster. Its most likely just a glitch or the plastic plugs in the back of the cluster r known to just fall apart. They can be bought through vw and replaced easily. Nothing in that fault that will hurt the car by driving it.
