Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I took apart the driver door and disconnected the door latch but the horn still honked when I tried that.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Rennlist folks! Im the recent proud owner of a 1999 996.1 Carrera 4 here in Los Angeles. When I got the car it had an issue with the alarm randomly going off. When I lock it it honks the horn once and the red led flashes twice. From what Ive read theres an issue with a sensor detecting one of the doors is ajar, the frunk or the trunk lid, the center console storage box, or the brown ground wire from the aftermarket head unit is touching somewhere. Ive been chasing down this electrical fault for awhile and Im wondering if a Durametric would help me find the exact sensor thats causing this? I took apart the driver door and disconnected the door latch but the horn still honked when I tried that. Im leaning towards it being the aftermarket Kenwood head unit but it would be a lot easier if I knew which sensor is not working. Are there any Rennlist members with a Durametric that might be able to help me? Appreciate it! Would be great to meet other Porsche 911 addicts here!
