Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found a local 2003 911 coupe tiptronic with 175k miles the engine sounds fine no signs of bore scoring from what I see ims and water pump are said to have been done. Suspension and interior are a little tired. The car is grey with sports seats and an aero wing. What is it worth?

POST 2Original post

Such a loaded question. My first suggestion is to check Kelly Blue Book. Then search for similar cars for sale on Auto Trader and Car Gurus...So much depends on previous (documented) history, number of owners (any smokers) and general condition of the car. IMS done, when and how many miles ago, same with clutch and dual mass flywheel? Scoring, how do you see this? All suspension parts should have been replaced at least once by now. Do you have any pictures or a link to what you're looking at?

POST 4Original post

If you post pics and the ad for the car we could help with a better figure. Too many variables right now.

POST 5Original post

"High Mileage" is such a loaded phrase. In my mind, "high mileage" means driven 20k miles/yr +...for a 20 year old car that'd be in the 400k mi. range... Comparatively 175k mi. doesn't seem so high. That being said, if the car wasn't maintained properly, then yes 175k could be very high indeed! This is where documentation becomes so important. If the car is good mechanically and has decent documentation, I think $10-$12k may be reasonable. If the documentation is intermittent, dodgy or nonexistent, $8-$10k tops...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you all for the input. Im waiting to see what records are actually accounted for and what is hearsay. I can get it for around 8k. But with this mileage I am afraid of an emminant failure soon .Lol

What do you want out of the car? Expect to drop at least $5K as soon as you get in to it.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update The car has about 10k in service records from the previous owner. Waterpump ignition coils window regulators and transmission mounts brakes and some other areas have been worked on.

POST 9Original post

When and at what mileage where they done at? IMSB has a shelf life and needs to be replaced again...Do you have any pictures or a link? Sounds like it could well be worth the risk. Just make sure you have some cash ($5K) to put into it. Have you run a Carfax report how many owners?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15374165

4 owners and the ims bearing doesn't show up on the records. The. Other work was done about 20k miles ago.

POST 11Original post

Are you prepared to buy it and put some money into it? Is it a 99? I'd be concerned that the IMSB was claimed to be done but no record of it so put that on the list. Having a thorough PPI done (drop the sump, check compression and leak down test etc.) i s a must with a high mileage car. There's a lot missing that should have (and may have) been done by now that's missing record wise. Best of luck with your decision! Again, no pictures?
