Suggestion

You can go broke trying to fix every little issue on these cars, or do what I do and just make a list of things to replace just before selling it and call it a wash.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quick question... the flap that is part of the convertible mechanism (see picture) broke on my roof. I have left it off for a year now, but am wondering if it is important and plays a role in keeping water out of the car. Looks like I can buy a replacement for $199 and probably repair myself. Is it important? If not, I'd rather save the money. What function does this part serve? Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

It keeps leaves out and hides the top mechanism while the roof is down. Probably had some aerodynamic purpose too. I replaced my broken one a few years back but recently the replacement isnt flapping up and down like it should. I would just ignore it. You can go broke trying to fix every little issue on these cars, or do what I do and just make a list of things to replace just before selling it and call it a wash.
