Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm not seeing any abnormal wear compared to other 996's we've evaluated; hopefully more 996 owners can participate and provide some additional data points.*** For now, I recommend some very short-interval changes to keep the additive levels very high; let's do 250-mile changes for the next three months****.
Leading evidence: 'Replace oil' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend some very short-interval' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I would like to have a comprehensive oil analysis done on my '99 996. Who can do this in the Kingston, Ottawa, GTA area. Please help! I am saving up for the LN Solution but in the meantime I wan to make sure my baby don't go BOOM.
Cheers
Call your local NAPA store and ask them for part #4077 (yup, like the unit number from the old MASH TV series). That is the part number for their oil sample kit and they will likely have to have it shipped to them from central warehouse... so call ahead first.
They charge you $15 at the register and you can mail it in after you've changed your oil.
It's basically 1/2 the price of Blackstone.
There is also a Wix kit (part # 24077) on amazon.com that is sometimes on sale for $12. I stocked up a few weeks ago when it was that price.
NAPA and Wix kit go to the same lab and both include TBN. Blackstone changes extra for that.

i can only speak to the process of driving to their lab, dropping the sample off and receiving the results. If I read reviews by employees of every company I do or considered doing business with I would be hard pressed to use any of them. Positive feedback is rarely left, but people will crawl over broken glass to complain.
If you paypal me the $20, I'll modify a "canned" report for you. Don't bother sending me the oil; I'll just have to take it over to Autozone to dump it. Er, analyze it.
Here's a free first reading, just to show you that this is fuh rill:
Metals all look good; after another few samples, we'll know more about what this means*. Fuel and water levels look appropriate for engines that use both fuel and water. There are some particulates, which is not surprising since everything is made of particulates - after another year or two of samples*, we'll have a solid baseline**.
