Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I may go this route to test a few colors before I take them to American Factory Wheel to get properly painted.

Similar to plastidip in that you can peel it off, but with this you can (supposedly) use any regular spray paint on top.

I used only 1 can of the Peelable Primer, but would have been better off with about 1.5 cans.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have been doing some small repairs on my car to try and get things refurbed closer to new. My rims were in overall decent shape, but had a few rash spots on the edges and faces, so I wanted to re-do them.
While at the hardware store I saw a new product, Rust-oleum Peelable Primer. Similar to plastidip in that you can peel it off, but with this you can (supposedly) use any regular spray paint on top.
I figured I would go something fun for a few weeks before I get them back to stock and wanted to share the process. Will update when I go to remove it, and see how easy it is to peel off.
They look a little darker in person, but I was hoping they would be more bronze than goldish. Overall I think it is pretty neat and can be another option beyond plastidip. With this you can choose almost any color you want and get a finish much closer to a spary paint job. It has much more of a glossy finish than plastidip, but it does have a decent amount of orange peel. Would not be happy with it long term, but neat to see how it look.
Interesting product and results - I'll be curious to see if it is truly reversible/removable, and whether it is durable. If it is, then it opens up a lot more options than plasti-dip.
Thanks for sharing, and keep us posted!
Nice!! I like!
Have had good results with plastidip on the wheels of my 4WD Toyota Tundra (5 years and counting) and sprayed the entire vehicle on my Jeep XJ (4 years and counting). But this could open up a whole new world.
How much thickness did it add to the wheels? I notice that you can still see the badge on the center cap. Something else it could work for is interior parts like door pulls and accent pieces. Very interested to see how it holds up.
D.
I plasti-Dip my wife's 325i wheels and they came out OK, but it seems like this Rust-Oleum product is better in quality so I am interested to see how it holds up long term and also how easy to remove it as well. Thanks for sharing your experiences... Cheers,
I used only 1 can of the Peelable Primer, but would have been better off with about 1.5 cans. Some areas were a little thin and it seemed to lay down a little smoother with more spray.
I then used 1.5 cans of the color. If I had to do it again, I would have done a darker base coat over the white so the final color would come out darker.
Hm. That's actually pretty cool. I need to respray my "new" (to me, anyway) twists; the previous owner did a great job of getting them ready to paint, and I've been too cheap to do it right thus far.

Made me laugh when I saw this, I plastic spray my Sl550 Mercedes once, that was fun, lol. Anyway nice Job, Don't let it stay on there too long. Forgot about fixing any spots that peel, go ahead and rip it off and reapply. Also keep in mind how heavy that product is, it's quit heavy.
