Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

All I needed to do was tighten nut #4 as recomended.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm new to Rennlist. My buddy, who I bought my car from, is always raving about the site. I thought I would try getting help here before I head to the shop and write a big check. I'm not the most technical guy but I'm not opposed to getting my hands dirty. Any help would be appreciated. Here we go...
My wipers were working fine. Then the passenger wiper got off sync with the driver wiper. The wipers got tangled up. After untangling, the passenger wiper appears to be the problem - studders, extends too far onto the drivers side, stalls, off sync. This is my daily driver so I just removed the passenger wiper arm for now. Should I attempt trouble shooting, replacement, etc. or is this a job for a pro?
Most likely if the wipers "got out of sync", what happened was the nut that holds the wiper arm on loosened up and the arm popped off the splines. When you put the arm back on, just make sure the arm is roughly parallel to the drivers side arm, and make sure the nut is tight (you can put a little blue loktite on there if you're worried about it getting loose again). The second less likely but possible scenario is that the splines in the wiper arm are stripped - if this is the case, you'll need a new arm... Good Luck
Here is the whole system diagram. Make sure the nuts #4 under the plastic covers are tight. If they are, then you may have a problem with the whole crank drive #2

Take off the battery cover... then the two plastic covers to the left and right of the battery cover...
Then look at the control arms and the linkage to the wiper system... make sure it is all in good working order...
Pop off the nut to the passenger side wiper... clean/check the splines and reset/index to the correct position...
This is what it looks like when you take off the three plastic panels:
