Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace back' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'its the same' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend tunes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Rennlist: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

after 2 months, still not used to the rattles during idle unless the clutch pedal is down.
2002 C4 - changed to single-mass flywheel.
after 2 months, still not used to the rattles during idle unless the clutch pedal is down.
anyone added a "spring hub disc" ? if YES, which one and how much did it reduce the 'rattling".
as always - thank you!
OP - Add some Numeric cables, poly transmission mounts, underdrive pulley and revel in the racy noise. Add some Fister cans and you’ll forget you even have a speaker system.
Tex, I know you probably don't want to hear it, but you don't need the SMF. If you want faster reving on a 996.2. All you gotta do is get a good software package and it will do the trick with the drive-by-e wire 996.2. Imho, there is no reason to create more problems for the M96 which are all well documented.
+1
IMO the rattle noise is intolerable on a Street driven car.... Porsche is extremely annal about weight savings . I have seen them brag and spend uddles of money redesigning and lighten parts just to save a few grams of weight....The DMF weighs a ton and is there to control harmonic vibrations......
So BIG choice ...... add harmonic vibrations to save weight..... or add weight to save harmonic vibrations.....harmonic vibrations are not only annoying but can be terribly destructive .... a really tough decision that should not be taken lightly.
IMHO the only time you would need the SMF is in competition where hundredths of a second means winning or losing and $$$$$
If the rattle is bothering you, think about how your engine feels. As PT3 states above, theres good a (engineering) reason that Porsche specd the dual mass flywheel for the M96. Anyone and everyone who knows anything about the M96 says single mass/lightweight flywheels are a no-no-NO! Dont say nobody warned you
I suspect its the same for the 997 3.6. Not sure about the 3.8.
Back in the dark ages when I got mine, Revo Stage 2 was the hot ticket. It still works beautifully. But Revo exited the US market about 12 years ago to focus on the UK and Europe. If I was to reflash today, I would go with FVD. But there are plenty of choices available. Folks think they got more HP from a flash and in reality, they just got a more responsive throttle.
Alright guys. changed back to dual-mass with new clutch as well = "better-better"!!
guess, i will place the single-mass flywheel + clutch on sale for someone who wants the set
