But then, hardly anybody ever uses those seats, so why wouldn't they be in nice condition?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the standard interior on my car, which means that the rear seats are vinyl. I'm thinking of having them re-covered in leather, and a local shop said he could get me Porsche OEM "perforated" leather. But my recollection is that when the rear seats are leather (such as when the car was ordered with "leather to beltline" or "full leather"), the rear seats are not perforated leather like the front ones.
Could someone please help me out on this?
Thanks.
Full leather in my car, and neither the front nor the rear is perforated.
So, was the original owner charged less because they didn't put holes in it, or was he charged more since he got more leather per square foot?
There are/were a few different types of upholstery available for the interiors. In addition to the perforated or non-perforated type, there was "draped" leather - I think this was the most expensive option...
I have a 2002 C2, with manual sport seats and leather.
My know my front seats are perforated, and I suspect the rear ones are as well. I'll have a look to confirm this evening.
My '99 has full leather. While the front seats are perforated, the rear seats are not. I would definitely buy seats on ebay instead of getting yours covered.
I've only seen front's perforated on the 996 models. It would've been nice though if they offered the ventilated seat option like on the 997 models, especially with black leather in the summertime.
The draped leather was available as an additional option if you ordered the leather to beltline or full leather. Full leather was the most expensive, which gave you a leather covered dash as well as leather front and rear seats, and I think also leather on all parts of the doors that weren't carpeted. This cost $3300 when I ordered my car.
Thanks. I hadn't thought of that. They would have to be in really nice condition. But then, hardly anybody ever uses those seats, so why wouldn't they be in nice condition? BTW, the quotes I got for re-covering in OEM leather are around $900-1000. I'll see what sellers on Ebay want for theirs.
A fair number of us delete the rear seats; finding some used ones should be easy. I gave mine away; I suspect you could find someone else doing the same if you hang around for a while.
My car had the rear "seats" deleted/removed when I got it. The PO did not get rid of them however, so I reinstalled them, as I didn't need them just kicking around the garage. I subsequently looked them up on Auto Atlanta and was surprised to see that the seat cushions alone retail for about $2k apiece...and, the backs are also $2k ea.... so, roughly $4k ea. for what amounts to about 1/2 of a seat...
...Whatever... Oh yeah...I have the "draped leather" option which is about $250 more than the plain leather and about $400 more than the "leatherette"...Crazy #'s
