Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Mechanically it is 100%, however the interior trim pieces will definitely need replacing, I thinking I will source used pieces and just paint them black.
Leading evidence: 'Replace oil' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace i thinking i will source' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am thinking of getting back into the 996 game. I have a chance to buy a well optioned 2001 C4 Cab with only 20k miles (33k kms) for $25k Cdn. It is a previous US car imported into Canada in 2006, but has only 20k miles. It belongs to a friend of a friend, who's father passed away 5 years ago. The car was rarely driven after his father passed and now they are looking to sell it. It is Black on Natural Brown BUT has the Burl Wood trim that is now cracked and falling apart. Mechanically it is 100%, however the interior trim pieces will definitely need replacing, I thinking I will source used pieces and just paint them black.
I guess I am looking for someone to confirm that once I jump off the edge, I won't need a large parachute......
The price seems about right. Your biggest risk is how often they changed the oil. If they let it sit for a year at a time without changing it you are better off finding one with 140k km.
I've had it up on the hoist and had a tech inspect it. No IMS/RMS issues present. I am told the regular maintenance was always completed. I'm more worried about trying to find replacement trim pieces.
The wood seems to be a love / hate thing. I kinda like the natural brown / wood interior on my car but I appreciate it's not to everyone's taste.
When I got the car the original steering wheel had been removed, and the driver's door bin cover and door handle trim piece were badly cracked. I have a guy in Florida currently refinishing the steering wheel and when he's nearly done I'm sending him the door pieces too. It's definitely doable and not prohibitive cost-wise, although quite time-consuming. I'll let you know what the quality is like once I get them back.
If you do decide to junk the wood let me know, I'm always after spares even if they're damaged! And once I get my wood steering wheel back I will have a natural brown one for sale ...
