The most challenging part was disconnecting the old hose from the AOS body because of the pinch connection.

I only had to remove the throttle body which made running the hose pretty easy back to the AOS with the engine lowered.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

'04 C4S Maybe coincidence but i did recently installed the UAOS and had filled up to max dipstick level. The other day i noticed this drip on the right rear most side of engine. It appears and feels to be oil. I am thinking leak from spark plug? No engine light. Seems to be very tiny amount of drip over past two days. Ideas? I guess there is always a drama to solve.

POST 2Original post

Did you disturb the AOS crossover pipe connector at bank 2 during your UAOS install?

POST 3Original post

There is a pcv valve above that that connects to a aos pipe . If you look from the top right with the airbox out , it's behind the cooling pipe . It won't be the pcv valve but the O ring in the pipe . be aware the size is wrong on the parts list for that o ring . It's actually the larger size it says for the other side of the pipe .

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I must have disturb them said pipe! Thanks you two Ill look into that tonight!

Its hopefully just poped out at one side the press fittings are not the best

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i had a go at looking for this connection but i couldn't find it um maybe you can mark an X for me on the pic below... i did notice quite a bit of oil at a ignition coil.

POST 7Original post

Its somewhere beneath all those wires and hoses, on the cylinder head.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 20216497

Directly behind this coolant pipe ,maybe try a mirror This is the pcv valve removed , i replaced it anyway but im sure it was fine and just the o ring

POST 9Original post

Ha I have a leak there too!!! Good thing you mentioned it and the community responded, gives me a start point to check.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Whoop thank you guys! Will try again tonight.

POST 11Original post

You won't need to let much water out to remove that pipe , just drain from the bottom till it feels empty

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yea ok the damn ribbed plastic pipe (crankcase breather hose) i think has a crack. I did the smoke test through it but i didn't see any leak. probably not enough pressure to make the leak noticeable. ugh. will it be a b*tch replacing this? yay. but i do love working on my 996...yea i do.

POST 13Original post

I think it would be an absolute ****ing bitch to replace. It snakes under/between the passenger-side intake manifold. Maybe you can remove and install it without touching that intake manifold, but I think the job would be much, much easier if you removed it. And the driver-side manifold needs to be removed. Youre pretty much doing the AOS install all over again. But it will be easier this time because youve picked up the experience and confidence from doing it before.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ugh small hole big mess. took some time finding it. had a little flap covering it. gotta wait a week to get the replacement.

POST 15Original post

Why don't you try to fit the 997.1.... 3.6 pipe onto your 996.....If it will fit will be much easier than snaking the other all up under and through the intake... Part # 997-107-147-02 and connector piece Part # 996-107-047-01 This pipe circles around behind the intake then up the passenger side and straight down into the head....

Same here! Time to look at that PCV valve!! Thank you to this community!

POST 17Original post

I would be temped to put a small blob of hot glue on that and wrap it with self amalgamating tape

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the whole thing is probably rotten. ordered new one already. besides the AOS side broke as i was pulling it out

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Completed the cross over hose replacement this evening. I only had to remove the throttle body which made running the hose pretty easy back to the AOS with the engine lowered. Did smoke test after replacing one of the stainless steel hose clamp on the throttle body and no leak. Good to go I hope. The most challenging part was disconnecting the old hose from the AOS body because of the pinch connection. I found that this was best accomplished from under the car looking above to the AOS after removing that single electrical connector and its mount out of the way.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Took it for very hard drive and no leak!
