You can see with my refreshed interior picture a few posts above that with the graphite grey painted center console, I used black leather pads and shifter with a DB carbon fiber horse shoe to tie in the seal grey paint with the graphite grey interior.

Some lighter color paints look brighter when a primer color is used white even is using a black primer next.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My cars interior console looks very worn. The paint is gone & the base of black shows. Is there anything I can do to put it back near what it was.
steering wheel is the same way. Figured Ill put a wheel cover on it.
Abusive wear!

I have had success with using Seat Doctors dye on small areas of worn/faded leather on seats, console pads and shifter. Has held up very well and matches factory colors.

Regarding the center console, I would recommend stripping and painting it the same color as your exterior paint. Its a huge improvement over the rubbery stuff. Just make sure to put enough layers if paint and clearcoat on it to make it tough enough to handle things banging against it.
You may find it easier to go on ebay and find a black plastic Boxster console that doesn't have the rubber paint that you need to remove. Its easier to sand, primer and paint.
Good luck.
A nice upgrade would be to remove and paint it body color and have leather refinished

also does Porsche have the color codes someplace? Mine is silver.
Looks like you have seal grey 996. Same as me. Below is link to Automotive Touchup which is what I used for the center console. You can get a kit that comes with primer, paint and clear coat. The primer they sent was light grey in color. You can get it in spray cans or just cans to use with a paint gun.
I bought a black plastic boxster center console on ebay as well another another hand brake to mess around with the project. Sanded and primered them myself. Painted the handbrake first which came out looking very good because it was a small job.
i realized that i lacked the patience to paint the center console myself, so i ordered a can of the paint and clearcoat from Automotive Touchup for a paint gun and handed the project over to my indy who has a paint team for race cars and they did it. They did further sanding and primering using their own light grey primer, which may answer your question.

Those of us with graphite grey and tan interiors have wrestled with how to refresh the interior and tone down the "sea of grey or tan" with an upgraded look that stays true to the classic look of the 996.
Plenty of threads on graphite grey interiors and ideas. Best advice I can give you is to take your time to read all the threads and figure out what you want to do because it can get expensive with a few mistakes.
You can see with my refreshed interior picture a few posts above that with the graphite grey painted center console, I used black leather pads and shifter with a DB carbon fiber horse shoe to tie in the seal grey paint with the graphite grey interior. I will probably add a little bit more carbon fiber to the interior, but I am taking my good old time in making a decision as to what exactly.
No hurry. The key is to bullet proof your engine first. Which is easy to do. After that, you can take all the time in the world to figure out beauty secrets.
