The trick is, I turn 3 of the AC vents to blow directly at me, set temp to LOW, and turn the fans up.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yeah, I've got tinted windows and a sunshade that I put up, but still having the issue...
Hey everyone,
I've got black supple leather seats in my 2002 Targa, and they seem to absorb a ton of heat in the summer time and don't cool down even after driving with the AC blasting for awhile. By the time I'm home from work I'm sweating through my shirt which can be quite annoying...
Anyone else have this issue or have any ideas for solutions? Maybe getting them recovered in cloth could help? I've seen some nice pictures with the center inserts recovered in plaid cloth (see below). Replacing with cloth racing seats would be going overboard/too pricey.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Chris
i'd say this is a very accurate statement and i dealt with identical issues. living in TX makes this an issue for nearly half the year around here and i more often than not have black leather interiors. i was also arriving at work and back home with a somewhat sweaty back and madly wrinkled shirts. definitely annoying. i recently addressed the issue, but it required a new car! i finally decided that if i'm going to live in TX, i must have ventilated seats and they were worth the effort and the new car is fantastic. as long as i live here, i were never go without ventilated seats. i have not owned a cloth interior car since living in TX, but my guess is it would help some. the thicker the leather, the more prone it will be to retain the heat and, since you're sitting on it, there's really no way to cool the seat with the a/c. ventilated seats are the ****.
the pasha is awesome, as is the houndstooth option. both look great!
I dont have this problem. The trick is, I turn 3 of the AC vents to blow directly at me, set temp to LOW, and turn the fans up. Youd be surprised to know how much heat can be removed from your body and head, which offsets the sweaty back. Worst case - lean forward for a few mins, or put a white towel over the seats when the car is parked. White reflects light orders of magnitude better than black.
Almost all modern leather (don’t know if the 996 is included) is coated/sealed for stain protection. The automakers have done this to help the car get through the warranty period. The problem is the leather no longer breathes. I have a newer BMW that I am selling, love the car but one of the things I do not like about it is a sweaty back. Cloth is pretty easy to find in all cars in Europe but in the US it’s mostly found in economy cars. I much prefer cloth .
