It's about just having fun tinkering and changing things up.

DON'T try to use a chemical stripper like acetone, etc.

For track mats, I like to use giant metal saw blades too.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Was enjoying the day hanging out with my teenage daughter when she commented after noticing all the branding "i would have never guessed that i was riding in a Porsche".
Well maybe a little too much? I'm so used to it that but maybe i might have gone a little overboard.
So let's see.... on steering wheel, pedals, emergency brake handle, shifter ****, stereo backscreen, blank space above stereo, 3D printed ashtray mounted cupholder, sport seat, of course key chain....well at least i wasn't wearing my Porsche cap and t-shirt.
those mats are my alternative to the Rennline track mats. I wanted a track mat that went up the fire wall. Originally had them painted black but got tired of constantly doing paint touch up so i ended up leaving it aluminum finish. It gets lot of track time.... along with the X51 oil baffle tray, slotted only rotors, etc.... I actually used to switch back to the regular carpeted mats but have been getting lazy and decided to leave them in.
hmmmm, i may need to put that on my project list. i think multiple colors may be too much
probably just go with red led. it would go great with undercarriage led lights.
at least my exterior it's all business
AGREED. I've just never been able to leave any car i've owned alone. Just have to scratch the itch. It's just funny every now and then when you step back and look. One of the keys in life is you have to have a sense of humor and not take things too seriously. At least I had my daughter smiling the whole time!
Truck or Track...whats the difference...
Anyway, I love your passion. For me its about the journey to keep doing more stuff with your car. Its never about the destination... These cars are a canvas through which we express our vision. Its a form of art, some will like it some will not. Keep doing what you love.
I think this is case of more being...more. But you like it, so who gives a rip?
Rule #1 about asking the internet for an opinion: accept the reality that the opinion will NEVER be what you are hoping for. (If you need proof, search for the "I was at a car show and this loser asked my kid if he wanted to sit in a Boxster" thread)
On an unrelated note - have you had an eye exam in the past decade?
Yeah it's never about asking for opinion, like everyone agrees it's about doing what you want. I just got a chuckle out of it after stepping back and taking another look. I just wanted to bring a smile to others like it did for me. I smile ear to ear everytime I drive the Porsche.
I'm never content with keeping things the same. That's why I have multiples of everything and I'll switch things around just for the fun of doing and enjoying it. My wife never wonders why i have 5 different shift ***** and boxes and boxes of generally the same thing. I never ask how many pairs of shoes she has and she lets me keep adding onto those boxes!! It's about just having fun tinkering and changing things up. I've taken apart and resembled my '68 Chevelle powertrain (last year alone i switched out the 350 for a 383 then a 406), suspension and interior so many times i lost count. In the almost year since i've owned the Porsche i've gone through everything from front to back just to see and scratch my head at times and wondered what the engineers at Porsche were smoking.
Like i said in one of the other replies.... you have to have a sense of humor!
Sometimes it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. It's more fun getting there with a laugh or two and a big smile.
Cuda911, i admire your variety in cars... pretty much from one end to the other. I'm glad you don't discriminate...even a prius! I have fun when i drive the '68Chevelle around and get next to a prius at a intersection and i keep mashing the gas pedal and with a loud single chamber exhaust and very hot cam it just spews out fossil fuel.
I'm a road biker... Bianchi Infinito.
I did road biking for many years, but gave it up when I moved to Los Angeles. It was insane there.
I keep all my mods low-key. For example, just a few minor graphics on my race Boxster.
Cuda911..... I like it.... subtle low key in a non-slutty kind of way.
Love those boxsters... drove one for 2 years. Thought about turning into a track car but ended up selling at a very discounted price to my 19 yr old son....hopefully that won't come back to bite me.
I am digging it! ...and this is from a guy who's 'meh' about 996 interiors and wants his 996 to be slate grey with the interior sahara beige and wood.
Some of your individual touches you might call kitschy, but gotta say the overall effect works, especially at least looking like a track car. Bet you're meaner on the track with it too.
This will become my new wallpaper, if not my eventual inspiration. Salut"".
I see that the radio bezel has been refinished and the cigarette lighter door done too; scared to commit to refinishing that big console piece?
Just do it.
Not scared at all..........already done
.......the center dash console was refinished silver
to match the instrument bezel.
"fear is only a emotion, it can't kill you", ain't scare to try.
At one time i had the center floor console plasti dipped black but it got damaged and so i ended up peeling it off. Haven't decided what I wanted to do next... for now i'm just keeping it factory gray.
That's the piece that I was talking about, I saw that you had done the radio bezel but not the center console. If you had plastidipped it previously I'm surprised that it didn't take any of that soft-touch garbage with it.
Stripping the radio bezel is easy peasy, stripping the center console is a whole other level of hell. That's why I asked...
i just put a set of Coco-Mats in my car - I got them in dark blue/natural. They look amazing in the dark blue car with Savana beige interior. Really nice upgrade and they hide dirt so much better than the stock Savana beige carpet mats.
It's your car, do what makes you happy. But since you're asking for my opinion: it looks like you spent too much time in the interior accessories section at your local Pep Boys. All that crap cheapens the car and makes it look something a teenage boy would do to his car.
These pads for stripping:

Pencil in a couple hours on your schedule.
Remove the console, plenty of how-to's out there.
Fill your bathtub with about 6 inches of the hottest water that you can run.
Place the console in the tub and let sit for 15 minutes or so.
Go at it with the stripping pads, the 2 in the 2 pack will be sufficient.
DON'T try to use a chemical stripper like acetone, etc. Caps were intentional, chemical strippers will generally melt the soft-touch paint as well as the plastic fusing them and then you'll have a bigger problem with a more difficult solution so take your time and just scrub it off.
Prime with a coat of primer- this will also tell you if you left any soft-touch behind because it will bubble.
Paint with your favorite color, let dry for a day or so then re-install.
Enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Thanks! I just bought a second one off ebay, looks to be in way better shape than mine (only $60 shipped, whoo!). I'll use that as a backup plan in case things go south with my stock one. I'm also half tempted to send one off to

, it looks like they do nice work and ultimately I love the look of classic leather.
Yessir, that's how my project turned out. A couple coats of Rustoleum Metallic finish (

) and a very light coat of sparkly over the top of it (
