Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I recently purchased a set of oz allegerita in 996 Gt3 spec (18 x8.5 and 18x11 as opposed to the 18x8.5 and 18x10 that were recommended) for my 99 911 c4.
Leading evidence: 'Run 11"' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend )' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Due to the awd system, I was told that I can only run the recommended 225/40 and 265/35/18 tires.

If not what are some tire sizes I can run on my car to accommodate the wider wheels yet still stay within the correct tolerance that is recommended for my car.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I really need the help of the tire guru's. I recently purchased a set of oz allegerita in 996 Gt3 spec (18 x8.5 and 18x11 as opposed to the 18x8.5 and 18x10 that were recommended) for my 99 911 c4. I purchased them with the intention of running a wider tire for the track. Now as I am ready to pull the trigger on tires I am receiving conflicting information that has caused me to second guess my wheel purchase. Due to the awd system, I was told that I can only run the recommended 225/40 and 265/35/18 tires. Anything else I will run the risk of causing damage to the differential and transmission. Does anyone know with certainty if this is true? If not what are some tire sizes I can run on my car to accommodate the wider wheels yet still stay within the correct tolerance that is recommended for my car. Your help is greatly appreciated. I called Porsche of North America and even my local dealership and they both informed me to stay with the stock tire sizes.
I can't speak to what will fit under your fenders, but the stock turbo size of 225/40r18 front and 295/30R18 back will not damage the AWD system. Generally, as long as the fronts are taller (larger diameter) than the back, and you stay within 2% difference in diameter, the only limit is what will fit the fenders.
It all has to do with circumferences. Porsche recommend within 3%, but you want to get it as close as possible. I too have read that if they're off, its best to have the fronts larger than the rear.
The thing that 'engages' the front drive so to speak is a difference in rotational speed front to back. Therefore, the front and back should be very close in circumference which is directly proportional to outside diameter. For my 01 C4 I try to stay within a couple of tenths of an inch front to back. For example, I am currently running Hankooks (long story). Front is 235-40-18 with diameter 25.4 inches. Rears are 275-35-18 with diameter 25.6.
The 285-35-18 comes in at 25.85 inches which is about 2%. So, divide the larger diameter by the smaller diameter, subtract 1.0. if what is left is 0.03 or less you should be alright.

If you went with 295/30/18 rears the tires would be almost identical in height. Front tire would only be .1" taller and 295's would fit your 11" wheel great.
