Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

He said he doesn't recommend HID kits because they'll throw light everywhere but I told him mine have projectors.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend hid kits' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend hid kits' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm buying LED bulbs for all my exterior lights and asked the vendor (in Finland) if they sell HID kits for my headlights. He said he doesn't recommend HID kits because they'll throw light everywhere but I told him mine have projectors. He said I must have Litronics because all halogen 996 headlights he has seen have flat plastic fresnel lenses.
I don't have 601 on the sticker in my frunk and my headlights don't project HID/xenon light.
Here is my headlight.
Any help for a 996 newbie would be appreciated.
I don't know the light but my buddy sells FULL LED kits for the 996 lights, side markers, license plate, frunk, engine bay, interior etc.. he is local to us and lives just north of Toronto. He has the kits at his house and sells em on ebay. I put them in my 996 and they were all fine.
Thanks, Jamie. Can you send me a link?
On the Niagara Cruise, I was behind a 993 that had a conversion from this company and it looked great:

All 996.2 have projectors, regardless of whether it's HID or Halogen. Open the back of the headlight unit and see if there's a large ballast element. If you don't have the option code, it's probably halogen.
The 996.1 halogens do have the flat plastic lens.
Before you start your car, turn the headlights on. Then turn the key to full accessory power. If your lights dip, then come back up, you have HID lamps and a working self leveling system.
I'd just check out whatever they have on Pelican. You probably won't have the self-leveling if that's a factor in your area.
Whatever you do, do not swap in a "halogen-replacement HID bulb." They are terrible and HID arcs do not occur in the same (very precise) location as the filaments in a halogen bulb, so you'll almost certainly end up blinding oncoming traffic because everything is positioned wrong.
Your headlights are halogen. HID headlights have pop-up headlight washers.
FYI - I upgraded the halogen bulbs in my GMC truck to aftermarket LED bulbs. They are much brighter than the OE halogen bulbs, and they are plug-and-play.
This looks like a good kit:

Does anyone have a link to a video or diagram for installing? It would appear you need to cut a hold in the back of the headlight housing and mount the ballasts behind the headlight housing?
