Mine are holding up but all my other soft touch pieces are peeling and I have replaced most of them, some I had painted by BumperPlugs to match my painted center console.

I think that you can get them from suncoast for 3-400 or buy some used ones on ebay

I got a little to vigorous cleaning the window and my thumbnail caught on that piece.

Those only run about $180 each from my local dealer.

And, I might be interested in both just to ensure a matching set (they could be faded different from what's in my car).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Need some help finding a part number, and for the matter, the name of the part! The picture just shows the passengers side of a piece that surrounds the dashboard (I think its all one part, anyway). It's between the windshield and the dash. Does anyone know what this part is called and what the part number may be? This is for 2001 996 Carrera.
Porsche part pricing is all over the place especially with interior parts, ask for a quote on the driver and passenger side door sill that are in soft touch paint... Make sure you're sitting down.
those front dash fillers are available in many different finishes, wood, CF , leather, etc. I think all 996 and 986 are the same. They used to be $500 for CF, so leather was alot less. I think that you can get them from suncoast for 3-400 or buy some used ones on ebay
I'm parting out a 2000 C4. What surface are you looking for? Leather, Plastic, etc. Not sure which mine has, but I can check it out for you if you are looking to get one.
I would be very interested!
The cheapest price was at two places, Gaudin Porsche and Paramount Automotive, for
$1,575.61
. As usual, the highest price was at Pelican, for
$1,928
. Interestingly, these are all over eBay ranging in price from
$20
to
$60
with free shipping.
My car has a full leather interior in black. However, looking through PET, there seems to be several different part numbers. So, I plan to stop by the Porsche dealer today and talk to my buddy there and find out exactly which part my car needs.
But, yeah, essentially black leather. And, I might be interested in both just to ensure a matching set (they could be faded different from what's in my car).
Cool I will check to see what the car has, I think it may be leather. If not, I have full black leather in my track car, so I may be able to do a swap.
PM when you get the part number from the dealer.
996/986 share the same part. 2001+ has a different surface (introduction of touch paint).
Cheapest I've seen when I was looking was ECS tuning for around $200 per side but that was while ago.
So, a little but of good news! As it turns out, mine aren't leather—thank God! Those are insanely priced. Mine are some sort of soft touch plastic, the actual part numbers are as follows:
Driver Side: 996-552-185-04-A03
Passenger Side: 996-552-186-04-A03
Those only run about $180 each from my local dealer. However, I can find these for dirt cheap on eBay. Prices range from $20 to $60. So happy about that!
Good news...that's more realistic...I was wondering about the $1800 price for plastic ones. Mine are holding up but all my other soft touch pieces are peeling and I have replaced most of them, some I had painted by BumperPlugs to match my painted center console. Every time I put my sunshade up in the windshield I wonder when I'm going to scrape the sun hardened soft touch off this piece....
That's how the big scratch got on mine well, sort of. I got a little to vigorous cleaning the window and my thumbnail caught on that piece. Aside from ripping the top coat of plastic off, it hurt like a bitch! While I may have put the most obvious mark on it, at least it was already ruined when I got the car with other scratches.
Yeah, I was apparently looking up the most expensive leather covered part in the beginning (sometimes it's hard to decipher PET). It's insane how much they charge for leather covered parts.
