Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Ok so tried to open my sunroof today firstly by pressing the tilt button, nothing happened so I just pressed the slide open button to open it, this worked and it slid back , I opened it about half way.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok so tried to open my sunroof today firstly by pressing the tilt button, nothing happened so I just pressed the slide open button to open it, this worked and it slid back , I opened it about half way. Now comes the problem, when I pressed the forward arrow to closed it continues to slide open so both ways on the button just open it, so I ended up with it fully open and when I press the button now it just clicks twice then a third time about a second later, I have tried removing the panel to wind it back manually as I thought it was a switch module but it won't move with the Allen key at all, any ideas anyone??

POST 2Original post

Make sure you have the Allen key pressed all the way in. There is a release up in there.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Slakker I'm ill give it another go , any idea what it might be, I'm thinking switch or motor?? Hope it's not the cassette don't want to have to take all roof lining out etc !!

POST 4Original post

Have tried doing a reset? Cuda gives a detailed explanation in post #30. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...l#post11293141

POST 5Original post

Have you tried using the key in the door? Holding the key in the lock position will trigger the windows and sunroof to close.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah I tried the key, you can just hear the switch clicking, I think it's the switch relay as when it happened the sunroof only opened no matter which way you pressed the switch, I think the relay is just telling the sunroof to open then the motor has the roof fully open so it's sending s message back cutting off the motor immediately , hoping I can nip down to my local breakers at the weekend and swap the switch out !!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Slakker I think you need the roof closed before you can do a reset and mind is stuck open, good job she's back in my garage, rebuilt the engine now the electricals are falling to bits, ignition switch, frunk switch , sunroof !!!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok so I swapped the switch out today, same problem, is there a relay for the sunroof that may have gone faulty, send strange how it opened even on the closed side of the switch , I can't close it manually I've tried again, it's jammed solid !!

POST 9Original post

I don't think there is a relay for the sunroof, only a fuse. So manually cranking it did not work? Then what I would do is remove the motor and see if you can get the cassette tray to manually move forward by hand. You might be able to get it to close by hand. I think your motor is brain fried. The switch is simple, push to open 12V goes to motor to open, push to close 12V goes to motor to close. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...of-hell-2.html http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...new-motor.html https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...roof-help.html See the sunroof parts here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=811-00

POST 10Original post

I don't think it's the switch or the motor. I think it's bound up on something and since the motor can't push it forward, it automatically retracts it as if something is caught in it. The fact that it won't crank is another sign of being bound up. Try pushing forward on the under panel to try and help it close. If you hear any bit of ripping obviously stop immediately.
