Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bought an eBay short shifter to see how well it was made. Was actually quite impressed with the quality of the machined parts. The aluminum anodized blue and the nickel plated steel parts were really quite well machined and plated. The nylon bushings were disappointing. There was 0.020" of slop in the bushings ( and nylon is not the best material for the application). However, pulled a bit of 25% glass filled teflon off the shelf and turned a couple of new ones with no play at all. Also made some in delrin and they seem as good, but will wear faster. The shifter was also assembled incorrectly with the bend in arm going the wrong way (putting reverse down by the driver`s knee) Had to take it apart to correct, however was impressed to find a roller bearing pressed into the arm. All that to say, the shifter is in and we will see how it works. Throws are nice and short and all the slop is gone. Best part is I found $35 in change in the console when I had it off...

Docmirror my apologies for being so inconsiderate. There are many links on eBay for this particular shifter and they might not be there in a few months hence I thought the picture might be more useful.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
