Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace tires' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'balance issue if' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check tire balance' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I use Discount Tire or Firestone but I play dumb and ask to watch them do it so I can learn from it.

Suspected cause
Probably the best AutoX tire in the 200+ tread wear category.

Suggestion
If it were me, I'd take it in for alignment and check tire balance.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just a slight shimmy of the wheel. My wife as a passenger thought the car was wiggling a little back and forth although I didn't really notice that.
Is this the front end alignment, or unbalanced tires, or front control arm bushings?
What would be the proper procedure? I'm not sure it's really a problem that I'll address unless I should. It isn't bad enough.
I just bought the car. The tires were replaced awhile ago. They have enough tread, but the car was driven once a week or so for a long time. Not sure how old the tires are.
Tire shop. I use Discount Tire or Firestone but I play dumb and ask to watch them do it so I can learn from it. Really I'm just making sure they don't screw it up. Just ask them what the numbers mean on the balance machine and they will take extra time to get it right.
Also, tell them you are really particular about the torque on your lug bolts and would like them set to 96ft/lbs. I know this sounds really **** but it's important. If they get the torque uneven these lugs will come loose. I've had it happen. Luckily the tire didn't come off but it was wobbling and I learned my lesson. Once again, watch them do it.
I've got to get an alignment on one of mine tomorrow and I just take my safety glasses in with me. They don't say a word about me being right there the whole time watching.

Nothing **** about requiring safety requirements to be followed, it's common sense. It's either done properly or not!
These tips are not unreasonable. I have seen improper torquing of Lugnuts a lot. This is one of the reasons I prefer to only hand tighten my Lugnuts and use a torque wrench.
Very timely. I was getting a slight shimmy at about 70mph today. I've got lifetime balance through discount and lifetime alignment through Firestone so I started with balance. Sure enough, they were pretty far out even though I just had them balanced 4 months ago. Strange but an easy fix at least.
I had a bit of a shimmy and a bit of a fast sound with each Rev on my car when I first bought it. Tires were P Zeros with tons of tread life BUT about 8 or 9 years old. Replaced them and all sounds and driving anomolies were gone as soon as I had a matching set of Potenza RE71R which are, I may add, an incredible handling tire.
i contacted the seller and he'll tell me when he put the new tires on. I'm thinking this is the problem right there. Rubber deterioriates after years, and even though they are low mileage, that may be the issue...
