I have changed the oil with spin on adapter, new water pump and low temp thermostat, a new coolant tank (question on that later), motor mounts, new serpentine belt.

I've made good use of a torch and penetrant after forcing a few.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

I gave up on that after getting the intake runner off and still not enough access.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, fairly new here. I have a 2004 C4S that has 96k on the odo, has generally been well cared for but I don't know all of the maintenance history. Clutch and IMS was done at 70k. I bought it from a Porsche dealership employee who had it well cared for at the dealership from that point. I decided to tackle some preventative projects to forestall issues and learn some things. It has run great, no leaks, etc. I have changed the oil with spin on adapter, new water pump and low temp thermostat, a new coolant tank (question on that later), motor mounts, new serpentine belt. I have had a few frozen bolts that broke, a plastic tube connector break, etc. I've made good use of a torch and penetrant after forcing a few. I bought a new AOS and attempted to get to it with the 101 projects book and various google searches. I gave up on that after getting the intake runner off and still not enough access. I'll tackle that over the winter. No obvious problems with it right now. The question - the coolant tank came out with lowering the motor, etc. but for the life of me, I could not get it back in place and get the top connector that mounts to the car secure from below. It is secured at the air pump. Am I going to cause myself huge issues running it like that for the rest of the summer until I can drop the motor to put it in properly and do the AOS at that time?? I was trying to figure out a way to secure the back of it but.......
