Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Some of them have a small torx socket machined into the tip, but the ones I got from Pelican are round on the end, so I used two lugnuts tightened together to install them along with some nuclear-strength, high-temp threadlocker.

Suggestion

Unless the studs have a machined tip so you can use a socket, torx bit, allen key, etc., you'll have to use two lug nuts tightened together and lots of heat from a torch to get the lugs free (note: I'm not a fan of torching on anything important I plan to keep using).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Need to pull the wheel studs out of my old wheel carrier and move them over. I know nothing about wheel studs. Is it the same tool to remove and install? And recommendations on which one to buy?

POST 2Original post

Your lug bolts have been replaced with lugs and lugnuts? If so, and if thread locker was used, you may have a bitch of a time removing them. Unless the studs have a machined tip so you can use a socket, torx bit, allen key, etc., you'll have to use two lug nuts tightened together and lots of heat from a torch to get the lugs free (note: I'm not a fan of torching on anything important I plan to keep using). Any reason you don't just pick up another set of lugs? They're not DIRT cheap, but they're cheap enough that I'd prefer to use new ones over using ones that I have removed and reinstalled...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New studs it is. Are the double lugnuts what's used to install them?

POST 4Original post

Depends. Some of them have a small torx socket machined into the tip, but the ones I got from Pelican are round on the end, so I used two lugnuts tightened together to install them along with some nuclear-strength, high-temp threadlocker. If you go this route, be sure to wrap those lug nuts with electrical or duct tape so you don't booger them up. Here's what I chose. I went with the 45MM so I can use spacers up to 15mm without having to change lugs. Lug Bolt for Alloy Wheel - Silver (45 mm), Brand: Febi Bilstein Part #: 997-361-203-01-M36 I paid a whopping $32 for all 20.

POST 5Original post

I recommend MSI. Very high quality. As 5CHN3LL said, double nut with a good whack should break them. If not use heat. But usually the heat cycles the hub experiences has already broken the thread locker. They may just be seized from weathering.

Well, this certainly doesn't have any chance of ever being used out-of-context...

POST 7Original post

Ha! That's usually the first place my mind goes and I totally missed it.
