Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

The geometry is different so you will not get the true 2wd conversion without changing hubs, shocks, and of course swaybar drop links.

Leading evidence: 'Replace hubs, shocks, and of course swaybar drop links' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace hubs, shocks, and of course swaybar drop links' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Whilst Ive got the transmission and various other driveline components removed from my C4, Im considering a 2WD conversion. Im researched on the various pros, cons and considerations of this conversion but gave an engineering based question. Post conversion, does the output flange of the 4WD transmission just spin in free air, but without the carden shaft attached? Also, does this in any way negatively impact the torque capacity of the transmission, or is the rest of the 4WD trans the same from a spec and capacity perspective? I guess fitting a LSD would be a good idea at the same time.

POST 2Original post

It's my understanding that without the viscous coupling the front shafts shouldn't spin at all as there is no slippage detected. Ive thought about removing mine, but I have fou d it works great on track days. That's my personal feeling nothing scientific. The front diff and axles aren't particularly heavy, the front drive shafts doesn't weigh more tha. 10 pounds. Ive had the pieces all out at one time, but just didn't find it compelling enough to keep the heavier G96.31 without getting other benefit.

POST 3Original post

Yes, output shaft spins as usual. it is part of the transmission.

POST 4Original post

Leave the cardan shaft out and see how you like driving it.

POST 7Original post

Don't forget to do the 2wd front hubs and shocks. The geometry is different so you will not get the true 2wd conversion without changing hubs, shocks, and of course swaybar drop links. It killed me to see that "2wd" conversion aerokit car sell for 92k on BAT when they didn't even do a proper 2wd conversion. --Aaron

POST 8Original post

How much different is the geometry? I think the c4 hubs may have more robust bearings than c2. Maybe someone can confirm.

POST 9Original post

The shock is layed back changing the caster angle- just take a look and you will see. Not to mention C2 Ohlins/Bilstein kits are much less expensive then the C4 kits. --Aaron
