Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm planning within the next month or two to drop my trans (carrera 4) and replacing my IMS and my RMS. What else should I do while I'm in there? Trans mount? Flush or replace the slave cylinder?

POST 2Original post

AOS for sure. Check if it is a good time to put the UAOS. RMS as well.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for this! I've already replaced my AOS with a UAOS. One big question I have... Do I NEED to replace the clutch and flywheel while in there? I don't love doing jobs more than once. BUT, dropping the trans I don't think will be an overly difficult job and my clutch feels perfectly fine as is...

POST 4Original post

Others with more experience in motor-out WYITs will chime in, but I would add: • Motor Mounts X Trans Mount (at 44k mi I saw a great improvement replacing my originals) • Alternator • Battery Y-cable, • Tensioners • Chains • Check all pulleys • Oil Cooler • Fuel Injectors

POST 11Original post

If you don't mind re-doing labor at some point in the future, simply re-use the clutch and flywheel. If you are re-work averse - then replace them. It is really that simple. -Tom 2003 C2

It is going to need a new clutch and flywheel for sure.

POST 16Original post

If I were doing this, replace clutch, flywheel (dual mass), and throw out bearing with the upgraded release arm. While you are in there. New IMSB (are you going to do the Solution?) and RMS.
