I just went out to inspect closer with a flashlight and see that two rear look different.

If you foresee a lot of wheel changing, go with studs and nuts.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After doing my first wash on the Carrera, dried and drove down the interstate. Came home to clean the wheels better and found that two bolts were missing, one on each front side. I just went out to inspect closer with a flashlight and see that two rear look different. It must be to prevent theft? I will look and hopefully my jack bag will have the proper tool wrench to fit it. What is the deal there? Thanks
I found this lug with 17 mm socket in the tool bag. Threads are pretty messed up! Guess I can order that special socket? $$$
Anti-theft lug bolt. If you don't have the sooper sekrit adapter there are tools that will grip them and remove them. Throw them out (IMO). To be honest while you're at it you might consider getting ALL new lug bolts, 20 of them. If you foresee a lot of wheel changing, go with studs and nuts.
Concur with above. Once you have removed those "security" lugs, throw them in the garbage. If you really want class, get titanium lug bolts. They never rust and look good. If there is a nearby tire shop they may have the right tool to remove those. Also a Porsche dealership might have the right one too.
Thank you, that is my plan for sure! I ordered two lug bolts before I new those were on the rear. I will call around to see if a tire shop can get them off for me locally.
The picture of the socket with the bolt stuck in it is a 17 MM. Think that might be the wrong size? That is why it is stuck? Of course that is an air wrench socket too.
after heating the socket & pounding with a punch it came out.
the threads are in bad shape but it does fit into my threads on the hub.
I see different size bolts for the 04 Carrera. Can someone verify the size it needs?
That looks like an aftermarket "tuner" lug bolt. Something like these:

Once again you need a special socket to remove them. I'm starting to feel bad for you...
yes it looks like them but the other lugs are not like this one. Makes me wonder what was happening! New car to me, all new tires within the last 3 months.
Initially Im heading to my local tire place and see if they can get them off for me.
I feel much better today. The tire place removed those 2 lug bolts for $30.
I will shop for new chrome lug bolts if not too expensive. These measured 14x1.50 the shaft is about 1 1/2. Edited, I ordered all new chrome lug bolts.
Chrome is pretty but it can cause issues. Seating surfaces hopefully are free of chrome plating! But probably not, so hopefully the chrome plating is done well and will stay put. Also rust can start under the plating and make the lugs 'chubby' so a socket won't fit. But that takes years to happen.
Maybe you can tell I'm not a big fan of chrome lug bolts.
New Chrome lug bolts arrived today. I replaced them all, put a little anti seize on the threads, torqued them to 96 LBS. Loosened them and torqued again. That actually took a while but I sure feel better now!
