Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got my used engine to shop late March and STILL no Nickies that we ordered to do the 4.0. Another friend (but 996 GT3 owner) has been also waiting -- but not sure if it's exactly same part/process).
I mean, it's August!
Jeebuz.
3-4 months is a normal turnaround time for Nickies. That said, the demand is bigger than ever, mostly due to all the bore scoring cases this year.
The GT3 process is different, since the GT3 has a removable cylinder, that fits into the water jacket.
Gotcha. I thought you may have a handful of them sitting on the shelves given the number of attritions. Since my engine was basically fragments (nothing salvageable from the block/crank/head viewpoint) It was a simple matter of getting another vs sending my specific long lock acquired from a crashed car and having that one go through the process.
As Jake said, we've seen an unprecedented growth on our cylinder side of the business this year and we've been burying the platers.
The platers are horribly backed up. We have tighter standards we require for our finishes and that unfortunately makes our stuff go through much slower, which doesn't help things.
Based on my last update from the platers, we should be able to get caught back up on everything watercooled (and aircooled) within the next three weeks.
Sorry for the delays guys!
To expand on this, I follow Millennium Technologies on FB who does the cylinders for LN and also my sons dirt bike cylinders. They have been aggressively advertising for employees in their cylinder plating operation showings the wages per hour of the different positions they need help in and offering complete training for the positions..So if you know anyone wanting a job,
they are hiring !!!!
My guy mentioned that you received some but it did not pass your QC and that is soooo appreciated!!
After over 2 years of no Porsche, I finally got excited when I decided to go all in (and finding that engine/transmission combo)
I'm just getting restless
We check 100% of cylinders to ensure the finished product meets our own internal standards. They are all measured for ovality and taper as well as for surface finish. All LN cylinders, both aircooled and watercooled, are honed to our standards and differs from standard finishes offered by Millennium.
