Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I say winter, but they are really just all seasons I run from the time I take the car out of storage in the spring to the time the weather gets warm enough to run summer rubber (and vice versa in the fall).

Suggestion
The stock 996 rims were the same looking as those on a Boxter and if the buyer checked off the box for the alternate rims than, the "turbo twists" were the rims that the car was delivered from the factory.

They are not sticklers for originality in the non-vintage classes -- they don't care about mods as long as they look appropriate and aren't gaudy -- they will, however, ding you for dirt on a glove that they reached deep into the engine compartment to run across the back of an engine casing.

I purchased the car yesterday and figured I could run these wheels through the winter and search for an OEM set of twist for the spring.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Im looking at a 2000 to purchase. Are these factory wheels? I do not believe I have seen ones like this on other 996s. Listing says 17" alloy. They look like turbo twists but the lines look very sharp on them. Thanks
I'm pretty sure those are not Porsche rims at all. The stock 996 rims were the same looking as those on a Boxter and if the buyer checked off the box for the alternate rims than, the "turbo twists" were the rims that the car was delivered from the factory.
De Jeeper. Are you saying my photo looks like genuine turbo twist, or are posting a pic of what genuine ones look like? Hard to tell from the angle of your photo but your's also look like they have sharp lines too (could be the angle though).

you are correct! thank you. got me debating in my head on the car now. Its a 2000 with 87k black/savanna beige. IMS replacement documented. Seller wont go any lower than just shy of $20K
sorry i was saying mine are genuine and yes a bad pic for comparison but its the only one i had on my phone. Looks like u figured out what u have and for others ther r porsche part numbers cast into them on the back of genuine wheels.
Thats right they are a tire rack sold wheel! But stand by the rest of my earlier post in that many run as a winter wheel and they are narrower than stock to, Im guessing, accommodate a winter tire.
OP - Here’s a great resource for OEM Porsche wheels.

Your photo looks to be a Porsche replica whel built to mimic the Sport Techno. Look at the wheel lip.
DeJeeper’s photo looks to be Porsche OEM Sport Techo wheel.
I have a set of the Cup 4 rims for my "winter" tires. They do the job. At one time they were available in wide body offsets.

I guess i stand corrected. At least they r a genuine porsche wheel
. I never really looked at them that close and just took the po's word when he described them.
I think those Tire Rack Sport Editions are good looking wheels, especially on a 911. They're fine for the street, just don't use them on the track since they're cast and not strong enough for track use.
Thanks everyone for the input on the wheels! I don't think they look bad either. Came to a deal on the car, now just have to find time to make the trip to purchase it.
abueler...May want to see if that gives you some negotiating room with the guy you are purchasing from, especially if he was representing his wheels as OEM Porsche wheels.
OEM Sport Techno wheels would definitely carry the Porsche "tax" as they dont come up for sale that often.
Looneybin. You car looks very nice! I like the stance of it. I agree, the wheels do look good. I purchased the car yesterday and figured I could run these wheels through the winter and search for an OEM set of twist for the spring. Car should be delivered later this week, Im excited!

I'm a bit of an originality freak, but these wheels are very nice and look appropriate. I have them as wheels for winter tires, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if they were my year-round wheels.
I took my 996 to a PCA concours in "expert" class and I prepped the car really well, but did not have time to change out these aftermarket winter wheels for the summer factory turbo twists. I expected to be dinged big time on points for aftermarket wheels and winter tires, but they didn't care about them at all. They are not sticklers for originality in the non-vintage classes -- they don't care about mods as long as they look appropriate and aren't gaudy -- they will, however, ding you for dirt on a glove that they reached deep into the engine compartment to run across the back of an engine casing. I was disappointed with the judging standards -- I car about originality a lot, and I only care about cleanliness up to a point -- but it is what it is.
These wheels feel a bit heavy to me (but I haven't weighed them, so I could be wrong). Another poster said they aren't a good idea for track, but other than that, they would be pretty low on my priority list of things to change out immediately.
