Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Only way I'd touch a 170k car with an engine rebuild was proof of all the suspension replaced within the last 50k, and even then an engine rebuild would leave me leery.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello!
I have been out of the Porsche game for a while but found a 1999 Coupe I like.
What's her value? White/dark blue interior. 170k miles but a binder full of receipts including rebuild motor with nikies, LN ims etc. about 20k miles on rebuild.
clean inside and out. Needs a good polish/cleaning and a few little odds and ends (stuff like the rear wing accordion and a few worn trim pieces).
Runs like a champ with no drips or noises.
It did have someone bump the door years ago and they repaired it. Can't tell that any body work was done but it's on the carfax
What do you think she is worth?
Thanks for the help!
This sounds like a tough one, a lot of miles but records and documented engine build. Engine builds aren't cheap but you are only going to get a fraction back out of it in a sale.
You'll probably be lucky to get more than $10k unless you find a very specific buyer.

Tough subject.
A DIY guy might take it but with parts cost alone kill high mile 996 cars. Simply not much of a market.
Aero maybe but....
If the shop that did the build is a good INDY with excellent rep that helps.
Like the color. Dont see many white 996s
Lots of wearables as these cars age. But, for the right money if your handy around cars go for it.
Thanks. Good info. Full motor rebuild with all receipts. Everything done (crank, over bore pistons, Rods etc). Full suspension rebuild with all receipts. All within the last 20k Miles.
I read through all the receipts. Built by a high end Porsche specialist.
I appreciate you guys' input.
I just bought a similar car to that. 125k on the car with 40k on a rebuilt motor from 3.4 to 3.6 with nickies and JE pistons. It's a 1999 Arena Red with grey interior, all the sport options, and nice BBS wheels. $19k was our original price but I ended up buying it for $16k after the PPI found it needed a variocam actuator. The car used to be owned by the owner of a well known local Porsche shop and had the receipts for the rebuild. Keep in mind the cost of doing a build with nickies cylinders. The shop that did the engine build said they'd probably charge around $25k to have that build done these days.
My last 996 was a grey/black '02 with 46k on it when I bought it. It was a nice car but I always feared the cylinders scoring and knew the more I drove it the smaller the resale market would be. That didn't stop me from driving it though. When I found this car I wasn't necessarily looking to buy a 996, but had told myself if I was going to buy another one I wanted an early car that was either a roller or had a properly rebuilt engine, and I was hoping to find one in a non standard color. High mileage is not a concern to me, I don't think the low mile cars are worth the premium people are asking.
White cars are relatively hard to find, especially if you're looking for a properly rebuilt engine. Given all the work thats been done to the car, if its in good shape cosmetically I don't see why it wouldn't be worth at least high teens.
I think OP is looking to buy, no? It sounds like all the major issues have been taken care of. It could be a good buy depending on the price. If the engine was done right its probably worth more than the car itself lol.
Is the shop that did the work in MA on the South Shore?
I have a white 99 coupe/tip with 151k on it so I'd been interested to see what peoples think the market would bring. I've enjoyed it for two year and considering cutting it loose.
Get our own INDY to go over service records and review whats left to do
For example, in Socialist CA a clutch job without flywheel is 2k.
For a driver, you are risking 15k.If it checks out buy and drive it tell it breaks something and fix it.
Great car for 15k if done right
That said I always am concerned about a car that has a new engine build that then, after the big bite is paid for car is for sale. My thought is always whats next on the ticket?
Be smart get PPI
Life is a gamble but this one sounds good if checks out
I guess it depends on what your definition of 'a clutch job without flywheel' is. I would consider it to be, at the minimum, a disc, pressure plate, T/O bearing, pilot bearing and clutch pivot ball.
I'm curious what people in non
socialist
states are paying for
a clutch job without flywheel
