Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I attempted to tap into the power harness running to the CDC-4 in the trunk of my 996 this weekend to crib power for the Dension Gateway I'm installing. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be getting any power out of the wires I see. There are three wires available: Brown - presumably ground Red/Green - presumably power Red/White - unknown? Am I missing something in trying to tap into these wires for power? I can't find a wiring diagram for a 2004 996, or any diagram which includes the later CD changers. Any help would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Red/Green might be switched power Red/White might be unswitched power (power supply all the time whether the ignition is on or off) Just a guess. Consider checking with a multimeter. Brown is ground.

POST 3Original post

Red/green is 12v. it is suppose to be hot at all times, not just key on. it gets power from fuse E6 which is a 7.5 amp fuse
