Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys and gals,
Title is pretty self explanatory, just looking for tips and tricks of what you all do when parking it for say 3 months. It will be in a garage. Do you worry about getting flat spots on your tires etc?
Thanks in advance!
Inflate your tires to the maximum safe pressure on the sidewall to minimize flatspotting. I prefer this to putting the car on jack stands, since doing that stresses all the suspension bushings all winter. A more expensive alternative would be to put the car on hub stands, but not worth the $$ IMO.
Change the oil.
Put in a full tank of fuel with some fuel stabilizer.
Put it on a battery tender.
Make sure your mechanical locks work so that if the battery dies you can get in. Or, leave the trunk popped so you can charge the battery (remove the trunk light bulb if you do this).
I make sure there is some gas and oil in it, then park it. The next morning I go out and start it up and drive it. It s a car and cars are meant to be driven not parked. I have had a Porsche (911's and 928's) for 45 years and have never park one for the winter!
Everybody has the different circumstances but I agree with not putting away. I purchased mine recently. It only had 27K on the odometer. first several starts scared the crap out of me when I got it home because it was making all kinds of noises. Not sure how long is sat but I know it was sitting for a while because owner had health issues. It was months, not years. Anyway after driving for a few days when I got it home it sounded perfect on starts.
If it sits for more than a 2-3 weeks, the chain tensioner (i think) makes a horrible sound on start up......goes away immediately, but still makes me think sitting is bad.
I'm fortunate enough to have several "fun" cars. Every sunny or non rainy day I get I take one for a drive in the winter. I can take 1 hour, go for a 20 minute drive in each and call it a day.....beats watching repeat episodes of whatever on TV. And I live in the midwest where we love to throw down salt at the first possible dusting of snow. I'm just a believer in the worst thing you can do is let them sit.
That being said if you do decide to store it, I think you got good advice from others.
Once the salt gets put down I just put the Battery Tender on it full time and leave it in the garage until April rains wash the salt away. So far still driving it at least once a week.
I have a few cars I store....the thing you need to think about also is critters. I put down dryer antistatic sheets (critters supposedly hate the fabric softener) and sprinkle cat hair around wheels/tires (or anyplace they may crawl up). Great suggestion on insurance....I need to look into that.
Cat hair you say???? Where does one get that if they don't have cats lol. So even being inside my garage I need to worry about rodents? If this is the case I need to rethink my garage lol, its attached to the house and I do not want mice in here!!!!!!!!
"Unless you are running bias ply tires, you should not be concerned about flatspotting."
Continentals seem do this with regularity in my experience. 3 recent sets on Lexus, MB and the 911. All flat spot and most noticeable in cold weather.
