Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my key no longer operates the central locking, it seems to work , I put a new battery in but it just flashes intermittently now?? I've tried the reset procedures, putting the battery in backwards , nothing works??

POST 2Original post

The solder points on the circuit board are probably cracked/broken. Very common. Some have been able to resolder them but it didn't work for me. You have three choices. 1 - Buy a new key fob $$$ and have the dealer reprogram the car $$$$. 2 - Buy an aftermarket keyless entry system for $20 - $100. 3 - Live without keyless entry.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Aftermarket keyless entry sounds interesting I'll look into it thanks!

POST 4Original post

I bought a new key fob after reading an incorrect post on the subject. So $140 without a dealer programming I'm still without remote lock/unlock. I may wait until next year when I'll be having some significant maintenance work done on my car and ask the shop to program it. Check out this thread which has an interesting discussion about third-party systems. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...les-deals.html

POST 5Original post

I pray this never happens to me. There's no Porsche dealership on island. My remote frunk button does not work.

In my case, I had to have the car present and at least one working keyfob. Bill, no independent shop with a IPASS system on the island? I guess the only option would be to ship the car to california for keys?

I'm sure THAT would be nice and cheap!
