Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This has happened 2-3 times during my ownership of the car. It isn't a big deal, but I would like to figure out if its a problem or just a weird nuance of the split fuel tank in the C4S. Out driving, low fuel chime sounds, light comes on, and tank is at roughly 1/8. Remaining range shows about 40 miles. This is all normal so far. Then, I get to where I'm going, and the next time I start the car its absolutely 0. -- miles remain on range and needle is all the way down. Since I've yet to run out of gas in this situation, I'm assuming that the earlier reading is accurate and that something is getting a mis-read in a low fuel state. Its pretty stressful regardless. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks Charlie

POST 2Original post

I've never experienced that scenario, but my electronic meter isn't accurate ('99 C4). In my case it never goes to empty - it's possible that the float is getting hung up on the wiring, but I've never opened it up. I just refill the tank and zero the trip odometer when I get to 200 mi. or thereabout. It's easy enough and I never have to worry about running the tank dry...

POST 3Original post

I had a similar issue , I changed the fuel tank sending unit . I bought one and a new seal from pelican . Took about 30 mins . There is a fire risk so no sparks or open flames! Easy job otherwise . Take the battery out and its under it . It just unscrews

Thanks for the info! If it continues I'll give that a shot. Cheers Charlie
