0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

Cab/Tip/4wd/4s options add quite a bit of weight and change the driving feel a bit, but for me there isn't a more pure lightweight sports car than a 6-speed/coupe/c2 996.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It just blows my mind how incredibly awesome these cars are to drive! No matter my mood, or how tired I am, I get in my 996 and suddenly I'm a part of a machine that becomes an extension of me, like an exoskeleton. It seems to "know" what I want to do, responds immediately, never complains, power on tap that will slam you in your seat... Just incredible! What are your thoughts on this?

POST 3Original post

Yeah if I'm feeling melancholy I just go for a drive and Permagrin returns!

POST 4Original post

Driving the 996 is a blast - best bang for the buck! (no pun intended)

POST 5Original post

Are you sure you haven't been co-opted by the "Porsche Borg" ? I love my car (in fact I love it so much that I just shipped it to FSI for an elective engine rebuild) but I'm not nearly as hyperbolic re: it's abilities...My son's BMW 335xi is quite a bit faster...No, it's not as fun to drive IMO, but whatever...great car for sure - Incredible? Eh... maybe (I'm sure I'll feel a little different when I get it back)...

Yes, I've been absorbed into the Porsche borg collective! Blame it on my Dad, got bit back in 98, haven't been the same since.

For me, "fun to drive" is the only point. I couldn't care less about shaving a few tenths off of 0-60. If you like lightweight sports cars, I don't think there is a better car to drive than the 996. The fact that they are inexpensive is just icing on an already tasty cake. Cab/Tip/4wd/4s options add quite a bit of weight and change the driving feel a bit, but for me there isn't a more pure lightweight sports car than a 6-speed/coupe/c2 996. The 996 has also creature comforts that make it a great sports car you can use every day.

Wow...... You just dropped the engineer a year ago. What made you decide to do this? Are you upgrading the displacement?

POST 9Original post

My BMW 135i was a lot quicker in a straight line than my 996. It handled really well too. It was even better than my 996 on the stock suspension. But my 996 was so much fun to drive that I didn’t ever want to drive my 135i anymore, so I sold it. Now the 996 has a great suspension! I REALLY enjoy my 52 mile daily commute!

POST 10Original post

You will be so happy! The extra displacement is so worth it!
