Ok, I have a definitive answer and sadly my dealer is still trying to tell me my sway bars/stabilzers are non standard and fitted by previous owner which is completely incorrect.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

03 C4S manual. I am preparing to refresh my suspension and was getting ready to order sway bar bushings. I pulled old ones to check part numbers. The front part number is 996-333-792-12 and the bar measures 23.6 mm based on the cheap caliper I have. UPDATE : I have fat fingers ...front is 996-343-792-12 and not 333 as stated above. The rear part number is 996-333-792-26 and the bar measures 20.9 mm. In trying to cross reference it seems these parts fit C4S with sport suspension. The parts numbers are different for a C4S according to what I can find online. This is confusing, no M030 on hood sticker. Anyone have stock C4S sway bar dimensions ? Thanks David

POST 2Original post

Sorry cant help with the C4S, I'm doing the same on my 40 AE with M030 and they measure 23.8 mm & 19.8 mm.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually good info. If someone could just confirm part numbers for M030 sway bar bushings then we will be sure. Would be interested to know how my vehicle ended up with them. Port fitted option ?

POST 4Original post

Have u owned since new? My c2 car had the turbo rear sway bar with one original bushing and one correct bushing. The front was still stock but i swaped one from an s. Im pretty sure they r niw the same diameter as yours. Sorry i dont have the part numbers to refference. I was able to google the porsche part number and figure out the diameters and correct bushings.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, I have a definitive answer and sadly my dealer is still trying to tell me my sway bars/stabilzers are non standard and fitted by previous owner which is completely incorrect. I went to the best resource I can find, Gert at Carnewal dot com. He truly is an amazing source of information, He stated "Both US and RoW C4S came from factory with sport suspension as standard. Firmer springs , sportier valved shocks and bigger stabilizers," I knew it was a stiffer set up but still confused why even by VIN the parts numbers for the bushings come up wrong. I did not know it was in effect the optional Sport suspension specs. Anyway, now I know and will add to the increasing knowledge base. For what its worth I developed a killer one man method for pushing hub downward to allign and re-install rear struts and insert bolt with just one person. Just take a wide board (8 inches minimum preferably ) and place underneath hub and use tie down strap around board and around hub. Tighten strap until board around 10-12" off the ground. Now just kneel on board (hence needs to be wide) and it allows one person to push down and control position of hub and also reach under fender well and easily allign and insert shock bolt. Other than this you really need two people or it takes a lot of brute force and time. Of course if you not a heavy **** like me you still may need another person :-) David

I never checked the part #'s, but I did measure mine and they were nominally 24mm F, and 20mm R... I've since replaced the stock suspension units (the entire suspension was stock when I got the car) with H&R sport springs, Bilstein B8's and H&R adjustable sways...
