Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I wish I knew enough to look for that yesterday when I did the test drive.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I asked this question in my thread about a car I'm buying but didn't get an answer. I also searched the forums. I drove the car, '04 C4S, yesterday. The PPI is getting done today. Anyway, neither I nor the dealer could turn off PSM. I pushed the button while moving and while stopped but the indicator light never came on. I tried holding the button down for a few seconds but nothing. The mechanics's first question was about any other indicator lights being on. There weren't. He said that the PSM and ABS are interconnected so if the PSM had a failure it might show up. He's going to look into it later today. I definitely won't buy a car with unresolved electrical gremlins.
Any suggestions? Maybe there's more to it then simply pushing the button?
Thanks
Dave
Nope, you just press the button/switch on the horsehoe dash trim and PSM turns off. A light goes on on the switch, and an indicator lights up on the dashboard.
Any chance it is something simple like the switch isnt pluggged into the harness?
How about on start-up - do your lights works like this?
The warning light in the instrument panel
lights up in combination with the indicator light
in the rocker switch for a lamp check when
the ignition is switched on.
- In combination with the indicator light in the
rocker switch, the light indicates that PSM is
switched off.
Great question. I wish I knew enough to look for that yesterday when I did the test drive. I don't know the answer. Hopefully the mechanic doing the pre-purchase inspection will figure it out today.

I had the same issue with the PSM switch on my '02 Boxster S.
Does the switch actually toggle? (Can you feel the "click" of the switch?)
Mine was simply a bad switch - internal to the switch was bad.
Replaced the switch and all was well.
