Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello and happy thanksgiving!
I am the proud owner of a 2004 996 C2 and bought the car at an auction about a month ago. Car was in perfect functioning order only needed an oil change and a new battery when I purchased and it has sat in my garage until I get documents in order and the seats get re-upholstered. Well... the car has now presented a few gremlins which I need help in diagnosing / fixing.
I removed all of the plastics of the car to repaint them. That included the instrument cluster surround as well as both a/c vents (both sides), center console, steering wheel surround, and arm rest. First and most importantly, the car seats are off the car. Today I installed one of the seats back on to get the car started.
Last week while working in the interior, I turned the key on, all lights came on the dash and the car didn't attempt to start. No click, nothing. Since the car had been seating for a few days I wrote it off to a dead battery. Today, I bought a trickle charger and let the battery charge for a few hours... battery is brand new... it is now supposedly charged and nothing... no lights, no power seats... nothing nothing... turn the key... I get nothing... I can't believe it is something incredibly serious because the car was perfectly fine, so I am looking for help here.
Second issue... I had the handbrake pulled all the way up (my car is a 6-speed). today, lowered the hand brake trying to move the car to maybe jump it using my wife's car and the car is absolutely locked up. I am not sure what I did here, but any help is appreciated.
Thank you for your support as always and enjoy the holidays
Not a flood car at all. Car was sold to cover someones debt with AMEX. Took it to the mechanic straight out of the auction. Its a 2-owner, clean carfax car with multiple service records. Not worried about that at all.
Seems like you have a stuck rear caliper. Might need to replace or rebuild it.
Re the car not starting, could it be immobilizer related? Maybe you accidentally pulled a wire loose while remove the interior trim.
Check fuses C1 to C4 and E1 first. Then check the battery. A few hours on a trickle charger (due to it's very low current) will do almost nothing to a discharged battery. Then check the clutch switch if it's a stick ahift.
just checked fuses are good. Going to get a new battery. Trickle charger has been in the car
overnight. I get absolutely nothing... no lights... nothing in the dash... nothing.
problem solved. Bad battery. Battery is brand new and wont charge so I will return it. Calipers were slightly stuck from the parking break being on for almost 2 months... went for a quick drive around the block and car drives beautifully. Just got the seat covers on Saturday... car should be on the road soon. Cannot wait.
